PUCKER UP!

A woman’s lips have always been a symbol of sensuality and are a considered to be a defining feature of the face. Ideally, we all want full, luscious-looking and kissable lips!

However as we age, the appearance of our lips may change – they often lose fullness and volume and develop wrinkle lines. Many will not be unfamiliar with the term “smoker’s lines”, which are wrinkle lines above or below your lips. The occurrence of these lines can essentially give off a tired or aged look.

DR EDINBURG AS AN ARTIST

THE ART OF PLASTIC SURGERY

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said “Love of beauty is taste. The creation of beauty is art”.

Plastic Surgery as a professional medical practice is essentially creative by nature and involves the merging of both art and science.

For example, did you know that the word “plastic” is derived from the Latin plasticus – molding and the Greek plastikos – to form?

FACIAL SYMMETRY (PART 1)

Exploring Symmetry (Part 1)

Our interest in facial attractiveness dates back to the beginning of recorded history.

Facial symmetry has always been acknowledged as an attribute of beauty, as well-balanced features and proportions will result in a harmonious appearance. Symmetry can usually be identified when there is a regular, balanced arrangement on opposite sides of a line or plane, or around a center or axis.

RISING TREND OF THE 'MUMMY MAKEOVER'

The Mummy Makeover trend has seen no decline in recent years. Instead it continues to rise in popularity and is considered by some to be the next big thing in Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Breast Augmentation has increased 35% in the last 10 years, Breast Lifts (Mastopexy) by 69% and Tummy Tucks (Abdominoplasty) by 70%. These statistics mirror the rising trend of women looking for combination surgeries to target areas of concern from childbirth.

So why are Mommy Makeovers so popular?

AGEING GRACEFULLY

When you meet someone for the first time, it’s most likely that the first thing you’d notice about them is their face. This explains why women all around the world are investing so much money into anti-ageing skincare – all in hopes of turning back the clock.

Ageing is an inevitable process with factors such as UV exposure and lifestyle habits contributing to the loss of collagen and elastin in our skin. This leads to the appearance of loose, sagging skin in addition to loss of firmness and the formation of lines/wrinkles.

Facial Surgery such as a Face Lift can help you age gracefully and rejuvenate facial features, with results of a more youthful-looking appearance. It’s a surgical procedure that aims to restore the contours to your face through tightening of loose skin, muscle and connective tissue layers.

So you ask, what’s the difference between a Face Lift and a Mini Facelift?
