How To Get Your Body Back When Exercise Fails

How To Get Your Body Back When Exercise FailsHaving children is life-changing, but pregnancy and post-birth can change your body too. Whether it’s your ‘mum tum’ you can’t shift, or areas of fat which are more stubborn than your two-year-old, there’s multiple procedures that can help you get back to looking and feeling your best. Here’s our top three treatments that we tailor to you – you may require one or a blend of the three.

Liposuction
Liposuction involves making small incisions in the area you wish to remove fat from. A small thin tube, called a cannula, is inserted and used to dislodge and suction out the fatty deposits. Surgery is done under anaesthesia and requires admittance to hospital. The operation takes between one to three hours, depending on the area and requirements.

You will typically be discharged on the same day as your surgery, after a post-surgery consultation. You’ll probably need to wear a compression garment over the specific area for a few weeks. This will help support the area and reduce swelling and bruising.

Recovery time
Incisions are tiny, just for the cannuala, and are typically not visible to others. Swelling usually takes several months to completely subside.

Best for
If you’re in good health and are just carrying extra weight in areas it’s not welcome, then lipo could be good for you. Depending on your needs, liposuction can be carried out in conjunction with a tummy tuck, breast lift or arm lift surgery.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) and Liposuction Surgery on the Hips (2 Months Post Operation)

Tummy tuck
A tummy tuck can help smooth and improve the appearance of your stomach, by removing excess skin and fat from the abdomen. The surgery tightens the rectus diastasis  – two abdominal muscles which can separate during pregnancy, which means you’re able to gain your pre-pregnancy shape back.

A recent study found that a tummy tuck can more than just benefit your appearance. Some women who experience incontinence and back pain after pregnancies may find a reduction in symptoms following a tummy tuck procedure.[i] After pregnancy there may also be loose skin after you’ve had your baby, which can be very difficult to get rid of (as many women well know).

Recovery time
Typically, you’ll be back at work within two to four weeks, and you’ll be able to return to your exercise regime in just six weeks. During your recovery time, you’ll need to rest as much as possible, and wear a compression bandage.

While surgery will leave a scar, it’s placed under your underwear line, so it won’t be noticeable, and will fade over time.

Best for
If you’re close to your ideal weight but want to remove loose abdominal skin, or tighten weakened or stretched muscles, then a tummy tuck is for you.

CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting is a non-surgical technique which tackles stubborn fat, and is ideal for eliminating love handles, and problem areas such as excess fat on the arms, outer and inner thighs, back, and abdomen.

It works by selectively targeting and freezing fat cells by using a non-invasive applicator. This applicator sends precisely-controlled cooling to target and eradicate fat cells which lie under the skin.

When fat cells are exposed to cooling, they are ‘crystalised’, which effectively kills the cells. Over the next four to 12 weeks your body will naturally process and eliminate those dead fat cells, leaving you with a leaner, tauter and more streamlined figure.

There are copy machines on the market. At Eden, we use CoolSculpting because, as a Specialist Plastic Surgery Clinic, we only use products that are supported by scientific research, continued development and have a safe, proven track record. We are always on the forefront of CoolSculpting innovation, meaning we have all the newer applicators at the ready. A little more expensive – for both us and you, but well worth it for the superior product, safety, and results! On top of this, you can rest assured that you’re in safe hands with our Registered Nurses who are fully qualified and trained to use the CoolSculpting machines

Recovery time
CoolSculpting is non-surgical, which means that there’s no incisions or damage to your skin. You can have a procedure in your lunch hour and return to work just one hour later, without any need for anesthesia or painful side effects. The Eden Institute has two CoolSculpting® machines, so two areas can be treated simultaneously, saving you even more time.

One of the advantages of CoolSculpting is the speed in which you’ll see results. You’ll immediately see a 20 per cent reduction of fat in the treated area, and you’ll be beach-body ready within two to three months.
