If you’ve been feeling as though you’ve been looking extra tired or deflated lately, and all those anti-ageing creams or face treatments don’t seem to be doing the job anymore, it might be time to consider a facelift.
The majority of people believe that wrinkles and those little fine lines we all have are the only signs of ageing on our faces. However, there are actually many more telling signs of ageing, that when attended to, have the ability to completely invigorate and revitalise their appearance creating a much more youthful look.
Facelift surgeries create an overall younger look in a range of different ways, there are a range of procedures, coming in many forms that each address different concerns, from a composite to lower facelift.
Thanks to the numerous medical grade skincare brands available for our clients, many of our patients here at The Eden Institute can ward off the signs of ageing on their faces, yet the skin on the surrounding areas, such as the jowls and neck, is often disregarded and neglected, and regularly becomes the first place noticeable wrinkles and sagging occur. In these sorts of cases Dr Edinburg recommends a Lower Facelift Surgery as it addresses any sagging of the neck area and jawline. This procedure will create a much more contoured look and can diminish the appearance of any deep creases and sagging areas. Many clients actually come to us with concerns about their neck thinking they need a neck-tuck, but when further assessed we are often able to reassure these clients that a face lift is the answer to their worries as the sagging skin is actually coming from the lower half of the face. A good test for you is if you can pinch those jowls or neck!
If you have been feeling like you’ve been looking tired and no matter how much sleep you get those creases around your eyes won’t go away, it may be time for an eyelid tuck (upper or lower, or both) with your facelift. Facelifts with blepharoplasty that target the upper half of the face can radically reduce any deep creases surrounding the eye area, leaving you with a much more youthful and energised appearance. As well as a facelift, here at The Eden Institute, we can also tailor eyelid surgeries or dermal fillers and wrinkle relaxers to many of our clients struggling with an aged eye area. It all depends on what is most appropriate for your face and lifestyle.
Let’s be honest, nobody is a fan of a double chin, and unfortunately with age a sagging chin or jaw area can really accentuate this. A lower face lift may target both your chin and jawline, resulting is a much smoother, contoured and defined chin area. As well as eliminating that pesky double chin, a lower face lift will also reduce the appearance of a round face. Dr Edinburg can incorporate liposuction into your facelift surgery. As with all your treatment plans, it all depends on what is right for your particular situation.
As we age, the elasticity in our skin lessens, due to the decrease in the natural production of collagen in our bodies. This, paired with gravity, tends to draw down the skin on our cheeks, creating that sunken look that is often seen among the elderly. A facelift will lessen the appearance of saggy cheeks and will help to reestablish the natural contours in the facial structure. Dermal fillers may also assist to lift the contours left by loss of facial soft tissue that occurs as we age.
For some people, sagging comes from the forehead region, resulting in that ‘heavy’ look around the eyes, so in these cases a forehead lift may need to be incorporated into the facelift plan. Dr Edinburg’s perspective is to look at your face, with the issues that affect you, and what is a realistic plan that can help deliver a natural and refreshed look for you. Anatomy and effects vary enormously person to person, and Dr Edinburg’s many years of expertise as a Specialist Plastic Surgeon allow him to offer a number of different forehead lift techniques.
